Welcome to Wednesday, November 30th, cyborgs and cybernetics...
The Senate passed the Respect for Marriage Act, legislation that would protect same-sex and interracial marriage.
The act would reinforce protections for same-sex marriages that were initially handed down by the Supreme Court in 2015'sĀ Obergefell v. HodgesĀ decision.
The House is expected to pass the legislation and then send it to President Joe Biden's desk to be signed into law.
Should the House pass the Respect for Marriage Act?

Big News Causes is Missing:
Hakeem Jeffries becomes the first Black leader of a Congressional party in US history. While I'm sure there was some scheming and politicking behind the scenes, the fact that Jeffries was chosen unanimously to lead the House Democrats is both historical and a sign that Democrats are united in the House.Ā
I'm not sure we'll be able to say the same for the other side of the aisle, which has still never chosen anyone other than a white straight man as leader.
Big News Causes is Missing:
We are on the precipice of a massive railroad strike. The workers' unions (over 12 of them) have tried to form an agreement with the railroad companies, which have made massive record profits in the past 2 years. The main sticking point seems to be sick time, as there is a shortage of workers and the remaining workers cannot take time off if they get sick.
I don't think that the government should be able to force an agreement, but that seems to be where we are.Ā
Will Congress force an agreement, and will enough Republican senators be willing to force these massive companies to provide sick time, or will they side against workers yet again?
