McMaster: Potential for War with North Korea ‘Increasing Every Day’
Join us and tell your reps how you feel!
What’s the story?
Following North Korea’s launch of a ballistic missile last week, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster said on Saturday that the potential for war with the rogue nation is "increasing every day, which means that we are in a race…to be able to solve this problem."
Why does it matter?
Referring to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, McMaster told the crowd at the Reagan National Defense Forum that "there are ways to address this problem short of armed conflict, but it is a race because he's getting closer and closer, and there's not much time left."
According to the national security adviser, some of these armed-conflict alternatives include Beijing enforcing a complete oil embargo of the DPRK.
"You can't shoot a missile without fuel," McMaster said. He added that the U.S. is “asking China to act in China's interest, as they should, and we believe increasingly that it's in China's urgent interest to do more."
What do you think?
How do you think we should "solve this problem" of North Korea? Are additional sanctions the way to go? Should Trump return to his "fire and fury" threats? Should the U.S. pressure other countries to impose additional sanctions on the regime? Hit Take Action, tell your reps, then share your thoughts below.
