Committee Watch: Federal Disaster Response, Transportation Infrastructure Needs & Budget Process Reform
What do you think of this week's congressional hearings?
Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what Congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

Tuesday
- The Senate Armed Services Committee will hold a hearing to examine the findings and recommendations of the Commission on the National Defense Strategy. 9:30am
- The joint select Budget and Appropriations Process Reform Committee will hold a meeting to markup its report, recommendations, and legislative language. 2pm
Wednesday
- The Senate Agriculture & Nutrition Committee will hold a hearing to consider three nominations to positions at the Dept. of Agriculture. 9:30am
- The Senate Public Works Committee will hold a hearing titled “Addressing America’s Surface Transportation Infrastructure Needs”. 9:30am
- The Senate Health Committee will hold a hearing titled “Reducing Health Care Costs: Improving Affordability Through Innovation”. 10am
- The House Oversight Committee will hold a hearing titled “BOP Management of its Female Inmate Population, and Other Challenges”. 1pm
Thursday
- The Senate Environment Committee will hold a hearing on the nomination of Alexandra Dunn to be an Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. 9:30am
- The House Oversight Committee will hold a hearing titled “Evaluating Federal Disaster Response and Recovery Efforts”. 10am
- The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing titled “Combating Money Laundering and Other Forms of Illicit Finance: Regulator and Law Enforcement Perspectives on Reform”. 10am
- The Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee will hold a hearing to markup five bills and to consider four nominations. 10am
- The House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East & North Africa will hold a hearing on U.S. policy toward Syria. 2pm
