Why You Should Contact Your Rep’s District Office
Join us and tell your reps how you feel!
Transcript:
You probably already know that each of your lawmakers has an office in D.C., but did you know that each one of them has at least one state or district office? Well, these are the offices where you’re more likely to get in touch with them. So what’s the main difference?
Well, the D.C. office is more focused on legislation, while the local offices are more focused on local matters. So they’re basically the face of that lawmaker to the community, and that means they’re there to serve you. They’re answering phone calls, responding to requests, keeping track of complaints and praise from constituents and handling specific needs. So, contact a local office. The staffers there are probably from your community and familiar with it. Plus - bonus points - these offices are public. So you can walk into them and have a personal conversation with those staffers. So, go to your lawmakers’ websites to find out where their offices are located.
