What's Congress Voting On? Week of September 25, 2017
Join us and tell your reps how you feel!
Congress will gavel in Monday with several bills to reauthorize programs that are set to expire at the end of September on the docket, plus potential votes on healthcare reform legislation.
The House will vote Monday on a number of relatively uncontroversial bills, including a reauthorization of human rights sanctions on North Korea, a bill to promote the role of women in peace negotiations, and a resolution calling for deeper ties between the U.S. and the Association of South East Asian Nations. On Tuesday it’ll consider legislation reauthorizing a home-visiting program that provides resources to pregnant mothers and families. Wednesday and Thursday will bring votes on bills cutting off Social Security benefits to fugitive felons, allowing the Judicial Conference to continue redacting personal information from judges’ financial disclosures, and expanding access to investment research.
The Senate will vote to confirm William Emanuel as a member of the National Labor Relations Board on Monday. Its schedule for the rest of the week is yet to be announced, but whether or not healthcare reform legislation such as Graham-Cassidy will be brought up for a vote will likely be decided after Tuesday’s GOP policy luncheon.
