Georgia Bans "COVFEFE" (Along with "UTERUS" and "POOP")

What do “BUTT,” “POT4ME” and “DRSEX” have in common with President Trump’s neologism “COVFEFE”? They’re all banned from vanity license plates in Georgia.
And don’t try to get clever—the Georgia Department of Revenue, which oversees the state’s license plate functions, also bans “C0VF3FE,” “C0VFEVE,” “C0VVEFE,” “C0VFEF3,” “C0VFEFE,” “C0VVEFE” and “C0VF3F3.”
“Covfefe” now joins more than 8,000 terms barred from Peach State bumpers because they are obscene (“EFFU” ); a reference to a sexual act, body part or body fluid (“MYNUTTZ ”); disparaging of religious beliefs (“OMYGOD”); a protected copyright (“DODGERS”); or an allusion to drugs, alcohol or criminal activity (“LUVLSD”).
Also banned are references to race (“WHYTRASH”), ethnicity (“TJMEX”) or sexual orientation (“GAYLAY”). Not banned, however, is political speech. Both “OBAMA” and “TRUMP” can appear on your bumper. The reason for the Georgia veto of “COVFEFE,” and its seven variants, remains unclear as the Department of Revenue has stayed silent on the matter.
Any Georgians needing a “COVFEFE” (or “C0VF3F3”) plate should do a bit of research before moving: within hours of the tweet, drivers in California and Nebraska had claimed “COVFEFE.” And now, residents in more than 20 states have ordered “COVFEFE” plates. (But don’t give up hope: as of this printing, “C0VF3F3” is still available in Michigan.)
