This Week in Congress: Extending Flood Insurance, the NDAA, Plus a $154 Billion "Minibus"
Join us and tell your reps how you feel!
It’ll be noticeably quieter in the halls of the Capitol this week as the House has adjourned until September for its summer recess, but the Senate has a full week ahead.
On Monday the Senate will take a procedural vote on the nomination of Britt Grant to be a federal judge for the Eleventh Circuit in advance of a possible confirmation vote.
It’ll then have to pass a bill to reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program through November to prevent it from expiring at midnight Tuesday.
Also up for consideration will be a $708 billion bill authorizing defense spending for FY2019, and a $154 billion “minibus” that combines four of the 12 appropriations bills: Agriculture; Interior & Environment; Transportation, Housing & Urban Development; and Financial Services & General Government.
Check here throughout the week to see the vote results and updates to the schedule.
Schedule subject to change. All times Eastern.
