Voter Registration Deadlines

May 20, 2024 - Final day to register to vote online. Final day to postmark voter registration forms.
- Voter registration is available in-person up to and on Election Day.
Absentee Ballot Deadlines
Request an absentee ballot here.
Ballot Request Deadlines
- May 20, 2024 - Final day for completed request forms for a mail-in ballot to be submitted to the county auditor's office.
Ballot Return Deadlines
- June 4, 2024 - Absentee ballots must be received by the county auditor before polls close on Election Day.
General Election - November 5, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline

October 21, 2024 - Deadline to register to vote online. Mail-in registrations must also be postmarked by this date.

Military and overseas citizens can vote by mail using the standard procedure. Ensure your mail-in ballot is postmarked by the day before Election Day.

Voter ID Laws
- Iowa voters are required to have a valid picture ID to vote, though they make some exceptions.
Accepted Credentials
- Here is the list of accepted Voter ID credentials.
Don't have a valid ID?
- Any voter who does not have a valid ID issued by the Iowa Department of Transportation will be issued a Voter ID Card for free.
