Penguin Random House Sues Florida School Over Book Bans

DeSantis is a racist.  It's just that simple.  He should not be intruding in the educational curriculum especially when the class is college level advanced placement.  I'm certain he is banning because he cannot understand it himself.

Republicanism = Nazism 

If they can keep you ignorant,and control how and who you can vote for, then they control you. 

A lot of Americans died to prevent this Nazism from happening in the past. 

If the course was to be taught right it would cover the history of the Democrats around the Civil War and the aftermath like the poll tax and the DEMOCRATIC JIM CROW LAWS. It would cover George Wallace and the fights of the Democratic Party toward Dr Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement. 

Of course there will be no mention of this in the history of Black peoples.

Shows a complete ignorance of history & how it's taught, or else ignoring his Ivy League education to play partisan politics to achieve political goals by appealing to negative emotions. 

K-12 history is usually taught as timelines while college level looks at the various interpretations of those timelines and comparing differences. A few AP classes may be taught in some but not all schools for high performing students to do college work while in high school and gain college credit by taking AP tests at the completion of the course. I did this in high school to spend less time (and money) in college by skipping a semester or year as I had earned my freshman credit hours while still in high school. Not all schools offer this. I attended 2 different school systems growing up as my father moved us in order to live in a school system offering AP classes, Few surrounding city school systems even offered this.

DeSantis is well aware of this and manipulating the electorate that is unfamiliar with how the education system operates.

Oh my yes, he is taking a stand alright.  He has neon Swastikas on the top of tall buildings in the North of Florida and in the South.  We need to pass a law against the display of hate symbols like that in America.  To many Americans of all races died fighting that war to stop Hitler and his terrible hate of the Jews. I'm sure that the governor is aware of it, they are NEON, you can't miss them!  Well, then again maybe he attended schools that took such histories OUT OF THEIR CURRICULUM!!!!!!

The course criticism by Gov DeSantis is NOT about teaching African American history.  The course is LOADED w/LEFT-WING PROPAGANDA about closing prisons, trans & queer theory, "intersectionality",etc.

DeSantis is FOR teaching the history of SLAVERY, Civil War, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, segregation, the Covil Rights movement, etc.  He favors teaching HISTORY RATHER THAN PROPAGANDA.

I find it interesting that smiley faces aren't available on some of the questions being offered. It looks like differing opinions are not wanted. As far as the books, maybe the school systems don't think the books are appropriate. 

How can opinions be formulated with out having the ability to review all material?

Desantis is a racist and a fascist.  Banning books is following Hitler. What's next?  Building bonfires to burn books? History is an important part of education.  Choosing to ignore what has already happened is going to result in an undereducated student population.  Furthermore it is trampling on the rights of the groups that are being excluded.  This should and cannot spread to other states.

Again causes cannot even put a happy face for a selection on this. 

Perfect move to slap the Democrats immorality in the face.

How dare you take away the smiley face! CRT is causing irreparable harm to the African-American people. It victimizes them and make them feel entitled, discourages them to work for a living and seek higher education. The worst thing is that it causes division and makes that divide in the American people worse than ever before. That is how some in our government seek to control us. They sow hatred between the races so we focus on each other instead of seeing the freedoms that are being taken away from us. Wake up people!

There may be some materials that should not be in school libraries. But the politicians should not be the ones deciding what should or should not be. I do not have the answer myself but I believe in the parents of our children to allow them to choose their reading material.

They will find and read everything that is banned just because it has been banned.

The first thing fascists do is come for books, education and voter suppression. When are Democrats going to wake up and call Republicans the fascists they are.

Sexual education should take place in the home. Parents are the best judge as to when their children are ready to learn about sexual relations. Parents have the given responsibility to train their children and it should be their choice, not the choice of the librarian or school teacher, as to which teaching materials are used. There is a vast difference in moral values among families and the government-run schools, and respect should be given to our homes. Government should not be indoctrinating our children with immoral ideology. Schools need to return to reading, writing, and arithmetic. 

Only the voluntarily blind and involuntarily undereducated could support dumbing down what used to be one of the world's the academic pinnacles. Thanks for nothing, De Stupid.

Management of schools should be 100% handled by parents and school administrators. Federal and state government should be told to stay out of it.

i thought we moved past the banning of books , books r for learning and to think about differrnt views and learrning about actual history and other peoples cultures these republicans need too be voted out of office we dont need to have our government leaders telling us what is rright and what isnt unless its meant to stop the spreading of hate and ignorance
