II. KNOW THE DATES
Please note that the Delaware Department of Elections canceled the April 2, 2024, Presidential Primary Election "due to no contested races," as President Joe Biden is the sole candidate for the Democratic Party and former President Donald Trump is the sole candidate for the Republican Party.
Nonpresidential State Primary Election - September 10, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline
- August 17, 2024 - Final day to register to vote for online voter registration. Final day to postmark voter registration forms.
Absentee Ballots Deadlines

Ballot Request Deadlines
- September 4, 2024 - Final day to apply for absentee ballot by mail and online.
- September 9, 2024 - Final day to apply for absentee ballot in person.
Ballot Return Deadlines
- September 10, 2024 - Absentee ballots (via mail or in person) must be received by 8 p.m.
General Election - November 5, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline
- October 6, 2024 - Final day for online voter registration. Final day to postmark voter registration forms.
- October 21, 2024 - Deadline for unregistered uniform service members and citizens outside of the U.S. to register to vote.

- October 30, 2024 - Final day to apply for absentee ballot by mail and online.
- November 4, 2024 - Final day to apply for absentee ballot in person.
Ballot Return Deadlines
- November 5, 2024 - Absentee ballots (via mail or in person) must be received by 8 p.m.
Military and overseas citizens can vote by mail using the standard procedure. Ensure your ballot is received by election officials by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Voter ID Laws
- Delaware does not require a photo ID to vote, but you must sign an affidavit of affirmation if you don't have one.
Accepted Credentials

- Contact your county office for an acceptable list of options.
Don't have a valid ID?
- If you don't have any of the required forms of ID, you can sign an affidavit of affirmation that you are the person listed on the election district record.
