Juneteenth doesn’t mean diddly to Louie. He hasn’t been reported to have gone to the north side of Tyler in a decade. He didn’t go to any Juneteenth celebrations. He’s seen at the Rose Queen parade yearly and at other white gatherings. Louie missed a golden opportunity to make a first in his district but it was too painfully humiliating for him to make the effort. Just the thought of mixing with minorities and not being “among his own” makes him so violently ill he could suffer from explosive diarrhea. Diarrhea of the mouth is okay though. Lost Cause Louie thinks the South will rise again.

I am so grateful that none of representatives were among the 14 representatives that opposed this milestone in the march to equality. Thank you.

I am delighted for the Black Americans. It is remarkable and wonderful at the same time. I hope it will move all people of this country forward in the school curriculums, and in their hearts!

So i guess part of the healing is the "kill all white on sight" that's going on huh? The fair skinned puerto rico couple pulled out of their car and executed, the countless beatings and shooting of white skin across the nation, the endless twitter posts by racists saying how white skin needs to pay pay pay pay pay and die. All while the first slave owner in the US was black!

BTW, fought against slavery: liberals; fought for slavery: conservatives. I don't care what their parties were called at the time.

Never been a huge fan of the name - I feel like it should be more descriptive - but I fully support the reasons for making it a national holiday.

I think this is great, but you know what would be greater? Teaching the real history to students. Releasing all the people in jail in non-violent drug charges from the stupid failed racist “War in Drugs”. Reforming the criminal Justice system to treat people equally. Holidays are nice. Meaningful change is better.

It’s about time for this but there is much work to do. Racism has no place in America. All people are created equal and that is true and right and a noble goal we should continue to strive for.

It is a shame that we have to have a holiday like Juneteenth. Our country was founded on the belief that all men (people) are created equal. Our country, based on that principle, should never have allowed slavery to exist in this country at all. Hopefully we as a country can recognize this stain and work towards true equality of all people. This is another step on that path. Teaching the whole truth about this country in our schools would be another step.

This is great! Now let’s make some genuine change by abolishing systematic racism, including black history in core curriculum- not just electives, reparations, etc. just to name a few.

Do I think this day should be acknowledged?.....yes, yes I do. And, more importantly, do I think that the TRUE history of our country should be taught in our schools?........YES, yes I do. And do I think that Election Day should be a holiday?.......YES, yes I do.
