Voter Registration Deadline
- May 20, 2024 - Final day to hand-deliver or mail-in voter registration forms.
Absentee Ballot Deadlines
Request an absentee ballot here.
Ballot Request Deadlines
- June 3, 2024 - Final day to apply for mail-in absentee ballot.
Ballot Return Deadlines
- June 4, 2024 - Absentee ballots returned by mail or in person must be received by 7 p.m.
General Election: November 5, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline
- October 21, 2024 - Final day to hand-deliver or mail-in voter registration forms.
- South Dakota law does not allow voter registration via fax or email.

- Only military members and overseas citizens can submit their applications via fax or email.

Voter ID Laws
- South Dakota requires a valid picture ID to vote, though they make some exceptions.
Accepted Credentials

- You can sign a personal identification affidavit, and will still be allowed to vote a regular ballot. Call (605) 773-3537 for more information.
