Presidential Primary Election - June 4, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline
- May 5, 2024 - Final day to postmark voter registration forms (and received within 3 days to be accepted).
Absentee Ballot Deadlines
Request an absentee ballot here.
Ballot Request Deadline
- June 3, 2024 - Final day to apply for a mail-in absentee ballot (received by 12 p.m.).
Ballot Return Deadline
- June 4, 2024 - Absentee ballots must be received in person or by mail by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
General Election - November 5, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline
- October 7, 2024 - Final day to postmark voter registration forms.
- November 5, 2024 - Final day to register in person at your county election office by 12 p.m.
Absentee Ballot Deadlines
Ballot Request Deadline
- November 4, 2024 - Final day to request and return a completed absentee ballot application by 12 p.m.
Ballot Return Deadline
- November 5, 2024 - Last day to hand-deliver absentee ballot. Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Military and overseas citizens can vote by mail using the standard procedure. Ensure your ballot is received by election officials by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Polling Location
- Use the Montana Secretary of State's Voter Information Lookup to find where to cast your ballot.

V. WHAT TO TAKE TO THE POLLS
Voter ID Laws
- Montana requires identification to vote.
Accepted Credentials
- Here is the list of accepted credentials.
- Contact your election administrator for an acceptable list of options.
Don't have a valid ID?
- Voters without photo ID can still vote by providing a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, voter registration confirmation, government check, or other government document showing the voter’s name and current address.
- If you do not have any of these items, you can still vote a regular ballot if your “Polling Place Elector ID” form can be verified by the Election Office.
