Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees. Here’s a look at some of this week’s high profile committee hearings.
Tuesday
- The House Education & Workforce Committee will hold a hearing titled “Examining the Policies and Priorities of the U.S. Department of Education”. 10am ET
- The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee will hold a hearing titled “The Health Care Workforce: Addressing Shortages and Improving Care”. 10am ET
- The House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade will hold a hearing titled “Geopolitics of U.S. Oil and Gas Competitiveness”. 2pm ET
Wednesday
- The House Foreign Affairs Committee will hold a hearing titled “Strengthening American Diplomacy: Reviewing the State Department’s Budget, Operations, and Policy Priorities” featuring testimony from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. 9am ET
- The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on the status of the housing finance system. 10am ET
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to consider the nominations of one circuit judge, two district judges, and two members of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. 10am ET
- The House Homeland Security Committee will hold a hearing titled “ISIS-Post Caliphate: Threat Implications for America and the West”. 10:30am ET
- The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing & Insurance will hold a hearing titled “The Impact of Autonomous Vehicles on the Future of Insurance”. 2pm ET
Thursday
- The Senate Armed Services Committee will hold a closed hearing to markup the proposed National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2019. 9:30am ET
Friday
