Committee Watch: Turkey’s Offensive in Syria, Voting Rights, and Sanctuary Jurisdictions

Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

TUESDAY
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing titled “Sanctuary Jurisdictions: The Impact on Public Safety and Victims”. 10am
- The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing titled “Securing America’s Elections Part II: Oversight of Government Agencies”. 10am
- The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a hearing titled “Assessing the Impact of Turkey’s Offensive in Northeast Syria”. 2:30pm
WEDNESDAY
- THe House Judiciary Committee will hold a markup hearing on the Voting Rights Advancement Act and the AMIGOS Act. 10am
- The House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing titled “An Examination of Facebook and Its Impact on the Financial Services and Housing Sectors”. 10am
THURSDAY
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to advance judicial nominations and a bill to expand security coverage for Supreme Court justices. 10am
- The Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing titled “Data Ownership: Exploring Implications for Data Privacy Rights and Data Valuation”. 10am
