Committee Watch: Iran & Syria, Election Security, and Measuring Economic Inequality
How do you feel about this week's committee hearings? What should Congress hold a hearing on?
Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

TUESDAY
- The Senate Intelligence Committee will hold a closed hearing. 2:30pm
WEDNESDAY
- The Senate Special Committee on Aging will hold a hearing titled “Falls Prevention: National, State, and Local Solutions to Better Support Seniors.” 9:30am
- The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a hearing to examine U.S.-Iran policy. 10am
- The House Homeland Security Committee will hold a hearing titled “Preparing for 2020: How Illinois is Securing Elections” in Gurnee, Illinois. 10am
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to advance the nominations of 11 judges and a U.S. attorney; plus bills to protect U.S. Supreme Court justices and to allow U.S. victims of international terrorism to seek compensation. 10am
- The Joint Economic Committee will hold a hearing titled “Measuring Economic Inequality in the United States”. 2:15pm
THURSDAY
- The House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis will hold a hearing titled “Solving the Climate Crisis: Cleaner, Stronger Buildings”. 9am
- The Senate Armed Services Committee will hold a closed hearing to examine the situation in Syria and the wider region. 9:30am
- The House Administration Committee will hold a hearing titled “Voting Rights and Election Administration in America.” 10am
- The Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee will hold a hearing on the implementation of the 2018 Farm Bill. 10am
- The Senate Intelligence Committee committee will hold a closed hearing. 2:00pm
FRIDAY
- The Task Force on Artificial Intelligence will hold a hearing titled “AI and the Evolution of Cloud Computing: Evaluating How Financial Data is Stored, Protected, and Maintained by Cloud Providers.” 9:30am
