Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what Congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

Monday
- The House Intelligence Committee will meet to vote on the release of classified exhibits for an open interview this week. 6:30pm
Tuesday
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing titled “Red Flag Laws: Examining Guidelines for State Action”. 10am
- The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to markup a resolution of inquiry that requests documents relating to the actions of former FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe. 10am
- The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing titled “Trade and Labor: Creating and Enforcing Rules to Benefit American Workers”. 10am
- The House Transportation and Infratructure Committee will hold a hearing titled “The Cost of Doing Nothing: Why Investment in our Nation’s Airports Matters”. 10am
Wednesday
- The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing titled “The 2017 Tax Law and Who it Left Behind”. 10am
- The Senate Commerce Committee will hold a hearing titled “Our Blue Economy: Successes and Opportunities”. 10am
- The Senate Budget Committee will hold its first day of hearings to deliver opening statements about the budget resolution for FY2020. 2:30pm
- The Senate Subcommittee on Aviation and Space will hold a hearing titled “The State of Airline Safety: Federal Oversight of Commercial Aviation”. 3:00pm
Thursday
- The House Intelligence Committee will hold a hearing titled “Putin’s Playbook: The Kremlin’s Use of Oligarchs, Money and Intelligence in 2016 and Beyond”. 9am
- The Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee will hold confirmation hearings on the nomination of David Bernhardt to be Secretary of the Interior. 10am
- The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will hold a hearing to examine the federal response to and risks associated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). 10am
- The Senate Budget Committee will hold its second day of hearings to consider amendments to its budget resolution for FY2020. 10:30am
