Mueller Completes Russia Probe & Delivers Report to DOJ
Should Mueller's report be released publicly to the greatest extent possible?
The Dept. of Justice (DOJ) announced Friday afternoon that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has completed his investigation into Russian election interference and alleged collusion with the campaign of President Donald Trump, which began in May 2017.
Mueller’s report is still confidential and it’s not yet clear how much of the report will be released to the public or provided to Congress, and there isn’t a set timeline for when that will occur.
Lawmakers return to D.C. on Monday, and Barr's letter indicated he may be able to brief the leadership of the House & Senate judiciary committees about key findings as soon as this weekend.
Attorney General William Barr has begun his review of the report and has discretion over how much of it will be released to the public, although he said during his confirmation hearings that “my goal will be to provide as much transparency as I can consistent with the law”.
On March 14th, the House passed a resolution calling for Mueller’s report to be released publicly to the greatest extent legally possible on a bipartisan 420-0 vote.
