Were “tens of thousands” of emails illegally obtained?
On December 16, Axios reported that special counsel Robert Mueller had obtained "tens of thousands" of emails from 12 accounts linked to President Donald Trump’s transition team.
Kory Langhofer, the counsel to Trump for America, sent a letter to the House and Senate oversight committees claiming Mueller’s team unlawfully obtained the documents.
"A lot of lawyers thought that was pretty sad," Trump said over the weekend. “Not looking good. It’s not looking good.”
However, when asked if he plans to fire the special counsel, the President responded: "No, I’m not."
A spokesman for Mueller’s team rejected allegations that the emails were illegally obtained.
"When we have obtained emails in the course of our ongoing criminal investigation, we have secured either the account owner’s consent or appropriate criminal process," said Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller’s office.
Did Jill Stein's campaign collude with the Russians?
The Senate Intelligence Committee has asked Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein’s campaign to turn over documents, citing possible "collusion with the Russians."
In 2015, Stein attended a dinner in Moscow hosted by RT, a TV network funded by the Russian government. Stein and Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, were photographed sharing a table with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Stein released a statement on Monday evening defending her campaign.
