Committee Watch: Confirmation Hearings for Attorney General & EPA Administrator Nominees

Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what Congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

Tuesday
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold confirmation hearings on the nomination of Bill Barr to be Attorney General. 9:30am & 2:30pm
- The Senate Intelligence Committee will hold a closed hearing to consider & examine pending intelligence matters. 2:30pm
Wednesday
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold confirmation hearings on the nomination of Bill Barr to be Attorney General. 9:30am
- The Senate Aging Committee will hold a hearing titled “Fighting Elder Fraud: Progress Made, Work to Be Done”. 9:30am
- The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will hold a confirmation hearings on the nomination of Andrew Wheeler to be Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. 10am
- The Senate Intelligence Committee will hold a closed hearing to consider certain intelligence matters. 10am
- The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing to adopt its rules and to ratify subcommittees for the 116th Congress. 10am
- The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy & Water Development will hold a hearing to review the future of nuclear power as it relates to advanced reactors. 2:30pm
