State Dept. Issues Worldwide Travel Warning After Trump Jerusalem Announcement

What’s the story?
Hours after President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the State Department issued a "worldwide caution" to U.S. citizens travelling abroad.
What’s the concern?
The President’s move received widespread condemnation from world leaders and led to protests in the Gaza Strip and West Bank that left dozens injured.
Islamist militant group Hamas said Trump’s decision would "open the gates of hell" and Islamic Jihad called the announcement a “declaration of war.”
While the State Dept. warning does not mention the President’s announcement directly, it cautions U.S. citizens that
"In addition to concerns stemming from terrorism, travelers should be alert to the possibility of political unrest, violence, demonstrations, and criminal activities when traveling."
Travelers are advised to "to maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness when traveling" as “terrorist groups including ISIS, al-Qa’ida, their associates, and those inspired by such organizations, are intent on attacking U.S. citizens wherever they are.”
U.S. embassies in the Middle East have upped their security measures and remain on high alert.
The last time a worldwide caution was issued was in 2003, following the start of the Iraq War.
What do you think?
