Less than a week into 2017, both parties have already retreated to their corners and instead of working together, have regressed to sniping at each other over the fate of Obamacare.
Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are not focusing on ways to improve or replace Obamacare but instead are devoting their energy to smearing Republicans and making it tougher to improve healthcare for Americans.
Republicans on the other hand have spent 7 years screaming about an Obamacare repeal and now want to spend 3 years on repealing and replacing the program – potentially for political purposes going into 2020. This could cause the health insurance market to collapse and will hurt people.
Both parties have started the new year, Congress, and Administration off on the wrong foot by attacking each other in a war of messaging instead of wiping the slate clean and working together.
