What's Congress Voting On? Week of July 31, 2017

The Senate returns to the Capitol on Monday following the failure of Republicans' healthcare bill last week, fulfilling their promise to work through two weeks of their planned August recess. The House left Washington D.C. to begin its August recess on Friday.
Senators will convene Monday to start debate on the nomination of Kevin Newsom to be a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. Its schedule for the rest of the week is yet to be announced.

- The House is on recess until September 5.
Senate
Monday after 4:00pm
- Cloture vote on the nomination of Kevin Newsom to be U.S. Circuit Court judge Invoked 68-26.
Tuesday after 10am
- Confirmation vote on the nomination of Kevin Newsom to be U.S. Circuit Court judge for the 11th Circuit Confirmed 66-31.
- Confirmation vote on the nomination of Christopher Wray to be FBI Director Confirmed 92-5.
Wednesday after 10am
- Debate and possible vote on the nomination of Marvin Kaplan to be a member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Confirmed 50-48.
Thursday
- Confirmation vote on the nomination of Dan Brouillette to be Deputy Secretary of Energy Confirmed 79-17.
- H.R. 2430: FDA Reauthorization Act of 2017 Passed 94-1.
Friday
