What's Congress Voting On? Week of June 26, 2017
Join us and tell your reps how you feel!
Immigration and healthcare will take center stage in Congress this week before lawmakers adjourn for a week-long Fourth of July recess.
The House will cast at least three recorded votes this week, including one on a bill reforming medical malpractice lawsuits involving federally-subsidized care that'd been slated for a vote on the day the Republican baseball practice was attacked by a gunman and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) was shot. It will also take up immigration bills, including Kate's Law which would strengthen penalties for unauthorized immigrants who repeatedly reenter the country and a bill to detain unauthorized immigrants convicted of drunk driving while they await deportation hearings.
The Senate is planning to vote on its revision to the House-passed American Health Care Act this week, although the timing of the vote hasn't been announced yet. On Monday it'll vote to confirm Kristine Svinicki to be a Member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
