463 Unauthorized Immigrant Parents May Have Been Deported Without their Children
Join us and tell your reps how you feel!
What’s the story?
- More than 450 unauthorized immigrant parents may have been deported while their children remain in U.S. custody, according to a joint filing by the federal government and American Civil Liberties Union.
- The Trump administration is trying to meet a court-ordered deadline to reunite all families by Thursday. As of Monday, 879 parents had been reunited with their children, according to the filing.
- But in the filings, the Trump administration said the cases of 463 parents were “under review.” The missing parents are believed to have been deported, Reuters reported.
What do you think?
What should the U.S. do about children whose parents were deported? Should the reuniting of families be done quickly or should it wait for the “standard vetting process”? Or, as some have said, should all of this have been considered before the separations? Hit Take Action and tell your reps, then share your thoughts below.
