Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what Congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

MONDAY
- The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will receive a closed briefing on the prospects for Afghan peace. 5pm
TUESDAY
- The Senate Agriculture Committee will hold a hearing titled “Climate Change and the Agriculture Sector”. 9:30am
- The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to conduct oversight of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report and former White House Counsel Don McGahn. 10am
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing titled “Understanding the Digital Advertising Ecosystem and the Impact of Data Privacy and Competition Policy”. 10am
- The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing titled “Combating Illicit Financing By Anonymous Shell Companies Through the Collection of Beneficial Ownership Information”. 10am
- The House Education & Labor Committee will hold a hearing titled “Eliminating Barriers to Employment: Opening Doors to Opportunity”. 10:15am
WEDNESDAY
- The Senate Environment & Public Works Committee will hold a hearing titled “Examining Legislation to Address the Risks Associated with Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)”. 9:45am
- The House Budget Committee will hold a hearing titled “Key Design Components and Considerations for Establishing a Single-Payer Health Care System”. 10am
- The House Foreign Affairs Committee will hold a hearing titled “Searching for Solutions in Syria: The Trump Administration’s Strategy”. 10am
- The House Oversight Committee will hold a hearing titled “Facial Recognition Technology (Part 1): Its Impact on our Civil Rights and Liberties”. 10am
- The House Judiciary Committee will markup immigration bills. 10am
- The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a closed hearing on “The Reconciliation Process in Afghanistan”. 10:15am
- The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a markup hearing for several bills, including to protect the human rights of Uyghur Muslims in China and sanction war criminals in Syria. 2pm
THURSDAY
- The House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis will hold a hearing titled “Creating a Climate Resilient America”. 9am
- The Senate Homeland Security Committee will hold a hearing titled “Resources Needed to Protect and Secure the Homeland”. 9:30am
