UN Ambassador Nikki Haley Condemns Russia’s ‘Outrageous’ Seizure of Ukraine Ships
Should the U.S. sanction Russia for its actions?
- United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley called for the release of Ukrainian ships and crew members seized by Russia over the weekend.
- At an emergency Security Council meeting Monday, Haley criticized Moscow's "outlaw actions" and said "what we witnessed this weekend is yet another reckless Russian escalation." Haley, who is resigning from her UN post at the end of the year, added that Russia's behavior was an "outrageous violation of sovereign Ukrainian territory."
- But Haley suggested that the Trump administration won't toughen sanctions against Russia in retaliation for its "violation under international law."
