Just an update to my earlier post:
Debbie from United Way called me this afternoon, not only to apologize for the way i was treated when i was in search of help, but also to go above and beyond in finding help for me.
Thank you so much Debbie! For your compassion, for your kindness and for your love! I will not take down my earlier post but i will say that my opinion has greatly changed. I am thankful to Debbie and the United Way for the help they are finding for me and putting me in the right direction to seek and find more.
We ALL need to remember to treat each and everyone we talk to and meet, however brief, however small, with love and respect. We all want the same things out of life. We all want to be happy.. we all want to not suffer. Too many times we forget that a kind tone, a thoughtful word and a smile can not only go a long way.. but it can bring flowers and light into the dark and stormy day of another :)

My name is Maria. I am currently disabled and recently went through an evasive back surgery. In the next few weeks the income i receive from short term disability, will end. As will my insurance for my child and I and soon my job will follow. Today I called the United Way in search of help and information for the financial problems my family and i are currently going through because of my current situation. I have never been treated with such disrespect and lack of compassion as i was by your employee. I have, for many years donated to the United Way by giving small to large amounts through my paychecks, and other means, and now when i myself am in need, i am treated as if i am below you and your company. Never again will i donate to your cause or recommend anyone else do so. I have for many years, refused to give up on the goodness of humans but today, your company has saddened my soul and my hopes in good will and acts of kindness, has dwindled. Good Job United Way. You should be disgusted in yourselves! And i for one, will continue to share my story of your ill treatment of others.
