Why are police officers not trained in recognizing the dogs body language. Just like people they are exposed to our pets everyday. May be we need to start a group that can provide Pet Therapy to over stressed police officers and slowly open a door to getting officers trained in pet body language and than take it a step further by teaching them how to handle a fearful or aggressive dog. I think during their training only thing they hear about the attack dogs trained by the gangs or drug dealers etc.

I do know that when working on the ambulance crew we just asked the family to put the dogs up while we trying to help a patient. Sometimes there was no time to stop and read the animals in the home. Something everbody should do after calling for the ambulance is put the animals in the home in another room. Same for calling the police.

Police have training on how to neutralize people, but I'm not aware of similar training for animals. They also have tasers for people, but again, no tools for animals readily available at their disposal. Maybe it's time for someone to take the bull by the horns and cover this "niche market" for everyone's betterment. The only line of defense for police is their service weapon, but they don't need to use it to kill. They need to be protected, yes, but find other ways to diffuse a situation.

A dog is our best friend... he is as a bodyguard...

"Yes, any animal is important for me!"².

My guess is the terrorist organization known as the NRA (Neurotic Raving Animal Haters) is having a celebration following this shooting. Bastards.

.. thought she was a pit bull??!!! hell no.

Even if she were a pit bull, she should not have been shot. Why are these officers shooting dogs left and right. I see at least a posting a day. Why are the officers not armed with tranquilizer guns, mace, pepper spray, etc for such things.

Entirely

If this were a person and an innocent bystander vs the "subject" or perpetrator or criminal, there would be accountability. Why is it different for our furbabies?

qu il change ses yeux pauvre con.

every dog is worth save, I can't say the same about people.
