Getting the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal is like winning the lottery in the UK, Canada, and other Commonwealth countries. I believe that anyone alive who has served in the armed forces should receive the medal. Unfortunately, the politicians don't seem to see it that way. Handing out a few medals (by quota, per rank) is very bad for esprit de corps.

Gord, are you saying that anyone who is/was a member of the "Royal" Canadian Air Force does not deserve the medal, because they are not a British citizen? I hope that isn't what you are saying.

Mark Moritz

Yes we do deserve it. Perhaps they feel the financial burden too much. It's kind of funny you look at the Americans uniforms and after serving two years there chest look like they have served in every contingent since WW1... Canada our guys serve 10 20 years and your can probably count the ribbons on their chest in 1 hand. Come on where's our bling bling.....lol

All for this, I dipped out by 12 days in qualifying, regardless though there are lots of others who deserve the recognition.

Stick it in the post matey, ha, ha.

Soldiers of today will be Veterans tomorrow.Did the Veterans go to WAR on their own accord or OBEYING THE ORDERS of the QUEEN? Do the VETERANS of the Colonies of England fight for the QUEEN NOTHING? Will the United Kingdom be what it is today without the VETERANS? Fight for your MEDALS Veterans!

David Dunsmore

We serve our Queen and Country but it is the Politico's who send us to war, NOT the Queen.

I find that there are a lot of civilians who never served a day in the Military but are receiving the damn medal. ALL Veterans should receive the medal as a Thank You.

I keep forgetting that "CIVILIANS HAVE ALWAYS RUN NDHQ"and dictate to them what the Armed Forces will do, etc, etc, etc.

I Fully AGREE!!!

I served in the Royal Navy in Egypt 1951/1952/1953/1954; ON HM SHIPS. SUVLA /REGGIO/ AND GLASGOW.
Although my service was broken and not of the required 30 continuous days, my total time must have worked into some months. All I have for serving King GeorgeVI/ Queen Elizabeth II for 7years and six months is.Basel Cell Carsinoma: Or Skin Cancer. Thank you British Government for my legacy.

David Dunsmore

Thank you for not blaming the King or Queen. If you volunyeered and your only reward was a carcinoma then 100 Medals will not change or cure that.

iI served Queen and Country for 38 years but am not entitled to the Jubilee medal,

Phil Vango

you should have joined the police mate

Baza Mason

He would of,but they did'nt have a big enough helmet..,;-))
BTW I think,its a bloody disgrace....,;-(

I think every single person in the forces should have one of these medals before Justin Bieber gets one.

What is the point of petitioning a government that does not care? They earn their bread from us and their more than adequate pensions and expenses amounting to more in a week sometimes than a pensioner recieves in a month. In my 79th year, trying to cope with the ever increasing cost of living on a state pittance, that recently increased by £3.20 per month, in the face of a rent increase of £11.04 and a council tax increase of £13.18 in addition to energy costs, I feel helpless after 48...

Not one of them is worth my vote.

Looking good papa xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The government need to give us an acceptable answer to the question, WHY cant all Vets have the same privilige, the answer is because some spotty faced little shit who sits behind a desk all day polishing his arse on a leather seat says we can't, the same spotty faced little shit needs reaming with a Samson Bar, followed by a Wheel spanner.
