They also do not get dental benefits which makes hospital and doctor visits to sky rocket due to tooth infections. One doctor told me they cannot put on the record that they were treating for tooth infection which nearly killed me but instead could treat it if they call it chronic sinus infections. It is so sad to see so many disabled and elderly people trying to live on 603 to 700 dollars a month which by the way is way below poverty level. Hundreds of thousands of tax payer money that could be used to give seniors and disabled folks a cost of living increase so they can at least pay their bills. The really really sad part is every time seniors or disabled people get a raise in social security if they receive food stamps or disability they are both lowered so there really wasn't any raise at all. I say increase the cost of living for seniors and disabled folks and don't turn right around and take it away by reducing their food stamps or disability checks!
WHY?????? I PAID INTO THE SYSTEM SINCE 1962.... What gives you the right to tell me I should not get a raise? I gave 4+ years for your freedom and the right for you say that and to live in peace. I have paid for many foreigners to have health care and get free food.... yet my wife is sick and she can't get health care... the government has seen to it that we live at the poverty level... thanks to Obama we have next to nothing.... I have a friend who has had is medicine cut and Ihave been notified they are going to cut one of mine meds... again thank you Obama ... to busy taking care of illegals and foreigners...

They get one but if they live in senior housing..the housing readjusts their rent ...the increase wouldnt go to them...it will go to the landlord...crazy stupid!!!!
it is not enough to live on, when my mom was alive she didn't have enough to pay bill or buy food, she didn't get food stamps she made to much, its not fair when all these girls get welfare it should go to the older people who have worked for it.

Hi Anne! So sorry to hear you are going thru some of the same crap as we here are afraid we're about to face! The Right wing of our country are chomping at the bit to get their hands on our Social Security money and we (the Left wing) are fighting it tooth and nail because when they start, they won't be happy til it's all used up! I didn't mean "screw everybody else" in any sense except stop sending foreign aid across the pond(s) to just about every country in the world and keep that money here to make up the deficit. Those countries America gives money to are mostly middle Eastern and they hate America and Americans! I resent them sending money to them and trying to poach our Social Security and Medicare to pay for the wars they created! Sorry if that offended you, but if you lived here and were about to face what we are about to face and the government was sending hard earned tax money to those thugs then I think you'd be unhappy also.
I and my wife have noticed a dramatic increase in the basics we have to buy and our Social Security does not come close to keeping up with the increases. Luckily we have other pensions. I feel sorry for anyone not garnering additional resources in addition to Social Security.
