It would appear that DEFRA are not ready to challenge the manufacturers of inhumane rat traps because there is legislation covering their use which the trap manufacturers are compliant with.

Why is this campaign important to you?
Because I wouldn't wan't it done to me. I think it's one thing to have to kill for food purposes but never for financial gain. Trapping is a bad hurtful way to die too. If it has to be done to eat or to stay alive, then use some compassion and do it quick!
The inhumane treatment of all living things; be it animal or human is unthinkable in todays world.
We call ourselves civilized, I think not.
The needless abuse, torture and killing of any living thing is an act against humanity itself.
Where is the difference in man or beast, that man should decide which of God's creatures may live and which will die?
Our victims kill only what is needed to sustain life. The kill is quick and tbe prey suffers little.
The same can't be said for the fate of this beautiful animal.
fur was meant for the animal to have and not for us to wear. a world where trapping animals for thieir fur in order for humans to wear to stay warm is well behind us, and completely uneccessary.we have so many alternatives, so many different textiles and fabrics, why on earth should these innocent creatures be inhumanely left in the painpain and despair of a trap/concentration farm/ in order for us to skin them(in many places alive, cos its cheaper)for us to have a new pretty friking fur coat. give them a break.leave fur out.....
Animals are tortured. They are not killed right away. The traps are left in the fields for days sometimes with the animal unable to eat or drink water. It is painful for the animal. Their wounds are infected. Animals are not evil, humans are. Animals do not deliberately go after humans and set traps for them.
Look through history, there was never a demand for fur but maybe for the elite few.No animal should lose their fur and be skinned alive for any reason but greed is the worst! These traps are pure evil and should be banned in every state! What if your or my pet gets caught in one traps from hell? The pain and being unable to get out of it is unthinkable! They never get out alive, time for the change is now!
