I thought my daughter would be safe, I thought I was doing all I could to keep her safe. My worst fear came true and the best I can do now is to be part of the solution, I want everyone to educate themselfs and there children. I want nothing more than to never see another child or special needs person suffer sexual abuse.

Do you know 5 children die each day(!) from child abuse in US. But how many more children are being abused but haven't died yet? Do we need to wait? NO! We need to be proactive to make a change. Please raise awareness, pay attention, write your legislators, watch DHS work, we cannot afford to do nothing - our children is our future! Please join our group:

http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/War-...
This Page is to create AWARENESS OF ALL CASES OF CHILD ABUSE and to get OUR COUNTRY to create STIFFER Penalties to the ABUSER.

Statistical analyses have determined that 20-25% of girls and 10-20% of boys are sexually abused by the age of 18. Epidemic in proportion, child sexual abuse is a violation that directly and indirectly affects us all. The effects of sexual abuse on the victim and society are deep; ranging from drug addiction, to teen pregnancy, to sexual violence and even increased rates of suicide. Not to mention that in the US alone, it is estimated that tax payers spend $35 BILLION annually on the long-term costs of sexual abuse!

Darkness to Light raises awareness of the prevalence and consequences of child sexual abuse by educating adults about the steps they can take to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to the reality of child sexual abuse.

Darkness to Light prides itself on having the world’s only evidence-based child sexual abuse prevention program, Stewards of Children. This program was honored as the 2007 National Crime Prevention Program of the Year. With over 1,800 trained Steward’s Educators (called Facilitators) in 47 states and 10 countries, D2L believes they have already protected hundreds of thousands of kids from sexual violation!

Awareness, awareness, awareness! I'm in awe of the efforts made by D2L.
It's time to break the silence. Too many families and lives are affected. Silence only allows the offenders to continue on their path of destruction of innocent lives. Our children's future depends on our watchful eyes.

April's Story.... For years my sister, April suffered in the silence. She was sexually assaulted by a family member, who for years threatened her if she ever told. It breaks my heart to think that she had to deal with this all by herself. She finally told me, and my response was I am so sorry. I just let her know that I was there when she was ready to talk. Sadly, we lost my sister April on January 15, 2010. I know she is looking down on us, and would be proud that I am sharing this with you. Hopefully, her abuser we finally be brought to justice in a court of law. If you know anyone who is going through abuse be a good listerner and let them know, they have your support and encouragement. Together we can break the silence. Gina

I like many of you have child sexual abuse in my history. it will always be a hallmark - but i get to choose if it is a defining hallmark. i choose not! i know our prevention training - stewards of children - changes adults protective behavior. The training gives us common sense proactive actions so we can keep the children in our life safe. We can literally shift culture by stopping the sexual violation of our children. But we've got to train the army! we wouldn't send troups into combat with out giving them the tools and training to stop the enemy! we must get trained - organized and together we can keep this generation safe. That's our hallmark - we are victors! slaying the enemy - protecting our children. that's what i'm talking about and committing my life's work to. Join me. Join D2L. our children are worth it. Anne

I just completed the Darkenss to Light Prevention training today in my Early Childhood Education class and boy was it an eye opener. I have been fortunate enough to make it through my childhood without any incidents, by it is my #1 fear as a single Dad of two great kids. Hopefully the more we talk about it the harder it will be for the predators out there to be successful.
