Sorry I can't agree! Nothing mandatory in this country but the laws of the land. Just as the First Amendment says we have the freedom of speech I believe as well that our children should have the freedom to not speak! We are not required by God to answer for anyone elses sins only to spread His Gospel! I don't have any problems with saying the Pledge of Allegiance as long as our government does not force it on the people!

I did add since I am a disabled vet that should show this respect. We never omitted, "GOD", from the pledge and there wasn't the first student or teacher who would stand up and request that, "GOD" be removed from the pledge. My GOD everyone immigrating to this country before the 70"s(Age of Enlightment) pledged allegiance to our flag! Our children have to learn respect in the home! It is that simple!
Well said Gary. That's a really hard subject for me to accept. How could it have gone so far? Most Americans want God in our lives and schools.. It's really heartbreaking to know it has come to this. We are afraid of offending everyone but GOD..Blessing to u and your family.

I cannot stand the thought of selfish, inconsiderate, America and God hating people, telling we Americans that we cannot respect and show the love we have for our country. Some of us can only say the' Pledge of Allegiance' and' Thank You' to the soldiers, and the' Our Father, ' and the evil anti-Americans are triing like hell to take our faith , patriotism, and freedom away. Our children Need to say the Pledge of Allegiance in school. It is their RIGHT!
Karen... you obviously did not pay attention in Civics class. You can do all the silly things you say here, that is your right, but know that most of this show boating patriotism isn't worth a hill of beans. If you really want to be a patriot, stand up for the rights of others to disagree with you.
we should all be very proud of our childern to know all the gret words in the pledge and to know what it means makes us all stronger. and love and repect to the ones that keep our country safe. and never take god out of it.

It could be made mandatory if the words added during the Eisenhower administration were removed. No one could object on religious grounds.
