Get On Board: Help end live sheep exports

Posted by Lauren on Aug 9

Around 4 million Australian sheep are sent to the Middle East on gruelling sea voyages every year, just to be slaughtered for their meat when they get there. There are serious welfare concerns for sheep on every stage of this journey.

It's time to put an end to live sheep exports. The only way we can get this cruel and unnecessary trade to end is with your support. Many Australians have already signed an open letter to Prime Minister Rudd calling for an end to live sheep exports.

Did you know there's… Read More

  • Aaron Recently watching a documentary on the export of live "merchandise", I was pretty upset and sad to see soo many sheep and cattle being treated like that... It's just not right... I mean, even hardened convicted criminals get treated better. It's just not right....

  • Shy Supporter Please don't do this anymore, animals have feelings just like humans, this is so wrong. In this day and age we can do so much better.

When people buy a puppy or a kitten they should realise its for life. Not just keep while they'er cute then get rid of them. And get you pets sterilized, There's too many animals out there already with no home.

We have one cat and two dogs, all of them rescue animals. I dont think I have ever had a pet that wasnt a stray to start with. Some of them have been challenges but never a dull moment.

I live in QLD inland of Fraser Island and i'm upset that the fact that the RSPCA isnt doing anything about our Dingoes they are staving and they need food. Send rabbits over there and they can hunt or even better do a feeding area that is supvised area over on the island

With all the negative stories about the RSPCA @ the moment some ppl might be losing faith in its ability to protect the animals that 'need' protection...Don't lose heart...Our local RSPCA ppl do a great job @ looking after the unwanted & abused animals...I have 4 unwanted &/or abused dogs who are very much a part of my family...The rescuers & foster carers do a great job re-homing these poor babies & they genuinely care about where they go...Hats off to Jenny & Tara for doing a tremendous job... <3

We adopted Schrody from Blackburn Animal Hospital - he was brought in as a stray. Toshiko joined us last Valentines day from RSPCA Burwood - she had been surrendered as a stray with a litter of kittens. I would never buy a cat from a pet store - I'd rather give a home to a cat that needs one.

I agree with Nicole, Pet shops shouldn't sell companion animals at all. There are more than enough to go around; just look at your local shelter.

Both of our pups were from the RSPCA in 2000 and 2002, both rescued from horrendous circumstances. One passed away last year, the other is still going strong. Love everything the RSPCA does to help animals in need.

Animals can't pick up the phone and say 'Help, my family is hurting me." We are the only ones who can speak for them.

Under-funded and reliant only on donations your .org does a fantastic job helping animals in cages, abaittoirs, transport, injured natives and our beloved pets at home. Thank you
