The answer is individual responsibility for ownership of any dog...and punishment severe enough to encourage good ownership.
don't ban the dog...ban the owner.

unfortunately stupid humans get their hands on this breed and hence we have attacks....licence the owners and make them responsible for poor ownership..Jail terms for example would make people take notice...and perhaps encourage idiots Not to own them??

Other dog breeds can inflict serious damage even if they cannot lock on to you...the aged, children and vulnerable are at danger....my partner Jenni was mauled by a German shepard...again...able to get out due to a irresonsible owner.I don't blame the dog at all..

Its not the Dog, its the twats that own them! I have a staff & an English Bull.

I have two staffs mate and two befor I had them and I have never ever had any probs..... I agree jas its the owners that need lessons on how to look after them ....

A breed of dog should not be prejudged just as a race of people should not be prejudged.

Judge the deed, not the breed

when will people realise that dog attacks on humans is a drop in the ocean compared 2 the abuse inflicted on them by the humans ...bad dogs arnt a certain breed its a certain human that makes them that way ,consentrate on the right end of the leash for a change

Belinda Edwards

well said, i have to agree, my staffy is a great pet x

Because Saber (11 year old Staffie) is lying next to me right now. A more loving mild natured dog, you would never meet. it is the way she has been raised.:-)

And, you forgot to say, how harmless she looks. x x x

We had a staffy years ago and he was the loveliest, softest dog you could wish for - it's the owners that are the danger not the dog!

It's the 2 legged git on the other end of the lead, the ones that have spoilt it for every decent staffy owner
And its us decent owners that get punished, not the scum that give our wonderful breed a bad name

All decent loving owners get penalised for another's ignorance

Lucy Onions

Totally agree

I have a staffy who is great around children, he lives with 5 cats one who is a kitten and can be a little trying around him, but he has never hurt anything or anyone, its all down to how the owners raise them... punish them instead!
