Anna, there's this misconception, especially here in Appalachia, that women are subservient underlings to be dominated by males. This is bolstered by the continued belief in the 'chattel' factor, an archaic law that, whilst struck down legally, is still ingrained in the minds and mores of many men here. NO woman should be treated in this manner ...
This is an indefensible and barbaric act rooted in male dominance and a hatred and fear of women. To hell with stepping on cultural toes, this is torture and mutilation, and repulsive to all civilised societies.
