Hanan and James returned from searching for the next recipient community

Posted by Kevin on May 8

Hello Everyone,

James (England), Hanan & Yeara (Israel) got back early this week from their journey deep into the mountains and then north into the jungle and desert to evaluate communities to choose the next recipient of a wind generator from Volunteer WindAid. Glad to see they safely returned with only mild stomach infections and big appetites!

You can see the photos from their adventure at http://www.flickr.com/groups/voluntee...

At least one of the communities they visited fits the criteria very… Read More

We have 3 volunteer groups coming to Trujillo this year - which means we will be installing 3 wind turbines for communities in Peru without electricity. You can see how it all goes on our website (www.windaid.org) and through our Twitter page (www.twitter.com/windaid)

Just a quick update... we've had $245 in donations so far, thank you so much to those who have contributed. Thank you also for all of the kind words, prayers, and messages I have received. We have raised about 10% of the cost of the complete system for the rural school near Huamachuco, Peru, and have a couple months before we have to install it, so I'm sure we'll find a way to get in done. Meanwhile, we are continuing our fishing program... and I will continue to do website work and whatever I can to keep the project going. Big hugs to all the members, and thanks again for your support!

Special thanks for the donations so far... I'm sure we are just getting warmed up! Some donations do not show, so I'll try and update once a week here to keep everyone informed of our progress. Please remember that our projects include wind energy, a fishing program that provides up to 100 families free fish every day, a volunteer community center, and our volunteer efforts at Agenda S.O.S. We are grateful for any contribution, no matter how small or large - it all adds up to help a bunch!

Thank you so much to all of those joining WindAid! We are proving that green energy can efficiently provide micro-industry in off grid locations creating self-sustaining enterprise with self-sustaining energy. We are making more progress on our school intallation in a remote village, and at the scallop farm in a remote port, where our 2000 watt wind generator provides power, they now employ 62 people! We'll try and post more news here in the near future, and keep you informed on the exciting progress we are making. Be sure to visit our website at http://www.WindAid.org to learn more about our projects!
