I think nurse patient ratios are extremely important because they determine the amount of time you get to spend with each patient and greatly influence the safety of both the patient and the nurse...as nurses, we want the best for our patients, but, unfortunately, we can only be in one place at a time....if the ratio is too high, it's impossible to give quality care.

Very dangerous to overload staff with too many patients. Spreads staff too thin and more mistakes and accidents can occur. Also the patient deteriorates more quickly when they do not get their Basic Care needs met.

as a nurse I feel that we don't alway's have time to care as much as we should.Better pay and conditions will encourage more peoplke to take up nursing as a career.

because they are spreading ypu so thin it is not safe. They are also exhasting the staff. The patient does not get the care they need and deserve. Esp the patients that need practically Total Care!

As a nurse it makes our job safer not only for the patient but for us..which is so important :)

Unsafe ratios mean compromised care and very tired nurses.

Nurses at Toronto Western General are great they really assist me in all my needs and report to the Doctor whenever slight pain bothers me.
