In Haiti, more than 230,000 have lost their lives to last January’s quake. One estimate predicted that the final death toll may reach as high as 500,000. More casualties from preventable, water-borne diseases, like chronic diarrhea, hepatitis, cholera, and typhoid in the upcoming rainy season are expected.

Some l.2 billion people in developing countries lack safe water to drink, according to the United Nations. Over half the hospital beds in poor countries are occupied by people with preventable diseases from unsafe water. At least 2 million people -- most of them infants and children -- die annually from waterborne disease. Unsafe water is now the single largest cause of illness worldwide. Installation of our new special chlorinators worldwide could reduce these numbers dramatically. Only two hours south of Miami, Haiti is an excellent location to demonstrate our new chlorine system. The World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, U.S. AID, the U.N. Development Program, and many important non-governmental groups, all, work in Haiti. We have taken the staff from several of these institutions to visit our sites, and will continue this effort. Through them, we hope to spread the use of our new chlorine technology and organization techniques to Asia, Africa and elsewhere in Latin America.

Emergency message to members:

We are helping the US task force going to Haiti to rebuild the water system in Port-au-Prince. We have given them our list of all water systems in the capital city, gallons each produces and population served. We found the military at SOUTHCOM in Florida to be most responsive and Maj, Ron Southerland in their medical division was quick to put our data in their plans. We have made out chlorine stored in the city availble to save lives in the crisis. Your help will make this effor reach more people in Haiti.

We have designed a new project to build fiberglass water tanks in
Port-au-Prince, Haiti. We hope to make and install 24 tanks each year.

Putting the new tanks in neighborhoods now without water in
Port-au-Prince will add 20,000 people each month to our customers.
That's more than 200,000 added each year.
