Dear Friends of Vipani,

We are pleased to announce the latest Vipani update! Vipani made great new strides since our last announcement through the expansion of a new Vipani unit, an awarded Rotary grant by the Rotary Club of Dauphin, and by sharing the Vipani philosophy at the upcoming global forum on poverty reduction, Opportunity Collaboration, on October 18 in Ixtapa, Mexico. Vipani Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit

Over 2 billion people around the world are stuck in rural poverty; passed over by globalization and living or working on small farms. They face multiple challenges that prevent them from tapping the power of the marketplace. Yet, they have tremendous capacity to produce the commodity that is most in demand, most traded and most consumed in the world ? food. The essential ingredients for profitable farming - capital to purchase inputs, market information to grow the right crops, technologies and technical support to grow it, and choice of market parties to trade with - are out of their reach. Vipani serves to fulfill these multiple needs of poor farmers.

Creating an efficient agricultural market in Africa? Yes, farmers double their income or more, less food is wasted and more people are fed. It's very compelling and integrates all the expertise and knowledge that exists around the world to build up Africa from the grass-roots. I am an advisor and Board member since Thomas started this at the Stanford Digital Fellows program - hope you get involved and contribute!
