As you can all see - Chhouk now has a prosthetic and it can be considered an overwhelming success! He has gone from only being able to take short walks which exhausted him to now being able to ramble about in the forest for hours with his surrogate sister Lucky and his keepers. The addition of drain holes in the prosthetic means he can also swim in his pool without having to remove the foot. A huge thank-you goes out to all those involved - particularly the Cambodian School of Prosthetics and Orthotics (CSPO), Wildlife Alliance and the hardworking dedicated staff at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center. Also thank-you to everybody who supported this cause - especially the financial supporters and of course all the businesses of Phnom Penh who so generously donated to our local fundraiser which raised almost $3000 - and of course all the expat community who supported the event and emptied your pockets on the night! Another foot is already in production as since he has increased his daily activity he is now growing at a fast pace....
So once again - thanks to everyone for your support. It's wonderful that this project has had such a positive outcome and it's all thanks to your support! (and of course the wonderful experts who donated their time.)

I am so happy to see Chhouk happy. He has been my cause since I joined FB. Go to Elephant Lovers group to see more about Asian elephants and how they are being rescued.
