CENTER FOR SCHOOL MOLD HELP Petition

Federal Zero Tolerance Policy for Mold in Schools

191 signatures

About this Petition:

Thousands of communities suffer with health problems associated with dangerous school environments, such as indoor dampness and mold. At least 1/2 of American schools have reported poor indoor air quality. Many schools have a history of maintenance neglect that includes longterm leaks. New schools waste taxpayer funds when they are poorly built and can't be occupied due to mold problems - or become occupied because the community cannot afford to correct the problems, sickening many of those who attend. Routine monitoring of school environments is rare or nonexistent. 20% of our citizens attend schools or work in them, weekly. Damp indoor environments are associated with development of new cases of asthma, other respiratory, and immunological problems in previously healthy people. Children are at greatest risk to develop chronic health conditions, from unhealthy schools. There is a current asthma epidemic in school-aged children, with 12% of the general population diagnosed with asthma (2010).

I'm a reporter for The Greenville (SC) News doing a story about school mold problems in our area. I was hoping to get some national context from this group, if there is a spokesperson with some statistics on the scope and danger of mold in schools. You can call me at 864-298-4826 or email at rbarnett@greenvillenews.com
Thanks.

My family lived with Black Mold for over six months last year. In that time I was hospitalized three times in one month and the baby I was carrying died and I was forced to give birth to him at 16 weeks. Our health issues are numerous, the pain and frustration we live with is almost unbearable. I pray for help and that no other family ever has to endure this kind of illness. We launched the Zyon Project - M.I.N.D. here, on Facebook and Twitter to get as much information and as many stories out to people in order to educate and make them aware of the dangers of the fungus among us. I bought my copy of Black Mold Exposure and am SOOOOOOO grateful to Mr. Williams for his awesome use of talents and skills to bring light to this otherwise ignored plague.

Michael Roland, thank you so very much for your generous donations to The Center for School Mold Help (SMH) ! For every Black Mold Exposure movie DVD sold, Michael, the producer, is donating 50% of the profits to SMH! This movie shows what it is like to be sick from mold - you have to see it to believe it. A great DVD to show family and friends if you are environmentally ill. They will understand that this is a real illness. Click on http://www.schoolmoldhelp.org/compone... to learn more

Take action, now! DONATE A DOLLAR TODAY! ASK ALL YOUR FB FRIENDS TO JOIN !

The Center for School Mold Help (SMH) needs your help! We have had groundbreaking success in working with US CDC to revise its mold and health information. You, as our valued members, have shared in that effort. Thank you for your participation and support!

The resulting NEW CDC MOLD INFO IS ALREADY HELPING people in flood zones. Info coming out from the federal government, organizations such as American Lung Assn, and health departments about mold prevention and the impact of mold on health is noted to be far more accurate than during Katrina. They are all citing the new CDC mold information.

Millions of people use our website, located at www.schoolmoldhelp.org, for lifesaving info to help improve the school environments in their local communities. SMH is an educational, national, 501c3 nonprofit. Your DONATION OF ANY AMOUNT is fully tax-deductible and will help continue our advocacy and educational efforts.

The beginning of my health problems started in a leaky 1st grade classroom in 1982. Until my father became sick from mold at work, we never knew this was possible. I'm up now, because my asthma is awful.

Happy Holidays! The Center for School Mold Help is a 501c3 charity that educates the public about mold and health and school mold. Our successes this year include the following:
1. Interactive communications with gov't agencies such as CDC and US EPA to explain the problems with mold and health and school mold. CDC improved their mold and health information by including links to WHO and IOM info about dampness and mold. US EPA is discussing development of a school ERMI test and is carrying out US GAO Mold Audit recommendations. We are communicating with them about our concerns.
2. Interactive communications with national teacher unions related to school mold and actions needed. Our input is sought after and utilized.
3. Improved Resources section of www.schoolmoldhelp.org, helping more site visitors to find direct help.
4. Website visitors report for 2009:
Site visits: Pages read:
Webalizer: 200,000 1,000,000
Awestats: (no robots) 85,000 285,000
5. Educational info provided to state legislators and members of Congress. This has helped lead to groundbreaking school mold legislation in WI.

We need your help! Please support our continued efforts and make a donation of any amount by clicking the green Donate button on this page.
I can't thank you enough for your prayers, encouragement, and past support!
