Tell 1st grader Norrin Kennedy, whose mother Stephanie Miller was tragically, brutally, ruthlessly murdered by her ex-husband with an AR-15 rifle in a convenience store last week in Devon, PA, that this act isn't urgent. Tell him that it was okay for his father -- who had been previously arrested for making death threats against his mother and a PFA order that his mother couldn't afford to reinstate --- to have access to and possession of a deadly weapon. Tell him, when you look in his eyes and explain why he now has no mother and no father, that the defeat of VAWRA in 2018 was okay because, well, politics.
VAWA expired on 30Sep, while we are in a national debate about yet another Supreme Court nominee's sexual misconduct allegations. I am out of words to describe my disgust for the depth of the misogyny in Congress. REAUTHORIZE VAWA!
This has key expansions to VAWA, I'd like to see these included on any reauthorization bill.
