First of all, NOT surprising that gas prices have risen, what with the pandemic and the disruption of delivery etc AND the fact that the petroleum industry "lost" a lot of money during the shutdown, they want to recoup that money and they will use any and all excuses in the world to increase prices whenever they can because they are greedy bastards. Secondly, as I have said in the past, Manchin is a "red"guy in a "blue" suit. He is ALWAYS for fossil fuels AND he seems to be particularly enjoying his moments in the spotlight over the past year....being the hold out on BBB and the the filibuster issue etc. And thirdly, the US consumes 18.19 MILLION barrels of petroleum DAILY. If our planet is going to survive, this needs to be changed.....yesterday.

Maybe if humans would stop waisting energy in the first place? Turn off lights in rooms you're not in! Instead of cranking up the heat, put a damn sweater on! Unplug all those damn chargers for cells phones and other electronics! That charger is still drawing electricity being plugged in. Turn off the computers instead of letting it draw on electricity while in stand by. Walk to the corner store instead of driving! Man is so damn lazy and it's disgusting! When was the last time you just took a walk around your neighborhood or a walk in nature or on a beach? Until we switch from fossil fuels everyone needs to participate and consume less. How come nobody’s talking about decreasing our need? We just assume it’s our God given right to be mass consumers to use and waste as much energy as we like. Walk. Ride a bike. Stay the fuck home. In the summer, open a window and turn on a fan. Wintertime bundle up and wear an extra sweater. LED lights. And on and on it goes as we continue to fill our lives with every electronic device in existence. We need to stop talking about energy independence and talk about conservation. I’m not sure that this will help. I remember when, I think it was Bush intervened due to high heating costs and gas prices one winter. Later I read that one of the big oil companies had posted their highest profits yet! Today I went to fill up my gas tank and forgot that right before travel holidays gas prices always go up. Last nights news that $3.85 was the highest price, didn’t really hit home til I stopped at the pump! I paid $4.04 per gallon for the mid level gasoline. The last time I filled up, my car was on empty and it cost approximately $45. Today with just under 1/2 tank, I filled up for approximately $42. I think the oil companies are going to do what they want regardless
