To help the stray animals of Romania

Romania Animal Rescue is a United States 501 (c) 3 charity, founded in 2003, by a group of hikers from America who traveled to Romania and were devastated by the living conditions for the animals.
Our vets travel to various locations in Romania to provide free spay/neuter for the impoverished people and shelters. We also provide food and treatments for shelters in need as funding allows.
The animals in Romania are desperate for help. They are born to suffer on the streets and in the shelters of the country, and it is the belief of Romania Animal Rescue that this should not be their destiny. RAR provides free veterinary care, spay/neuter, veterinary training, school educational booklets throughout the country, as our funding allows, so that the cycle of being born to suffer is stopped in the end.

1. RAR's free spay/neuter program enables animal caregivers to bring in their cats and dogs to be sterilized at no cost

2. Romania Animal Rescue vets Dr. Aurelian Stefan, Dr. Petrisor Stefan, and veterinary technician Ruth Osborne set up Veterinary Training Camps to teach Romanian vets how to perform safe and humane spay/neuter on dogs and cats. Most veterinarians either do not know how to do spay/neuter, or have poor skills. RAR is changing this. Once these veterinarians are trained by our skilled vets, they return to their communities to provide highly skilled surgeries for animals.

3. RAR helps shelters in Romania with supplies, spay/neuter and treatments, and food when funding permits

4. RAR are active in promoting adoptions of animals from Romania to other countries where these animals will be well treated and respected. Romania Animal Rescue also provides wheelchairs for handicapped dogs as our funding allows.

5. RAR provides free in school educational booklets to the cities of Iasi, Tecuci, Nicoresti, Craiova, and Baia Mare, with plans to expand the children's educational programs throughout the country. The booklets teach children how to respect and care for animals.
