About

Support 5 Million Palestine Refugees

"Who are we?"

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) was established in 1949 by the UN General Assembly resolution 302 (IV). UNRWA was created to provide direct relief to Palestine refugees following the 1948 Arab-Israeli conflict. Today UNRWA continues to fulfill its mandate by providing humanitarian assistance and human development programs to 5 million refugees living in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan.

"What do we do?"

We Educate:

1) We teach 500,00 children, helping Palestinians become one of the region's best educated societies.
2) We offer a Human Rights Curriculum emphasizing tolerance, gender equality, and conflict resolution.

We Care:

1) We operate 137 primary care facilities that receive 11 million visits per-year.
2) We save lives by reducing the infant mortality rate among refugees from 16% to 2.2% over the past 60 years.

We Assist:

1) We administer social services to 65 women's centers and 39 community based rehabilitation centers.
2) We provide hardship assistance such as food aid to over nearly 1 million at-risk refugees.

We Empower:

1) We empower millions of Palestine refugees through micro-finance loans, vocational training, job creation programs, and gender equality initiatives.
