We're a non-profit foundation dedicated to raising public awareness & financially supporting vaccine research so to end congenital CMV, which is the most common cause of childhood disability in the US
Congenital CMV (cytomegalvirus) is the most common congenital (present at birth) infection in the US. However, physicians are not warning or testing women about this virus prior to pregnancy. Our mission is to raise public awareness, support vaccine research and affect change in the medical community so that physicians will begin to test women for CMV prior to pregnancy. Ultimately, our mission is to save babies yet to be born from suffering the often devastating consequences of congenital CMV by eradicating this common but potentially life-altering virus (cytomegalovirus). We need your help. See our website at www.cmvfoundation.org. Attend one of our nationwide walk-n-rollathons in May. Donate online on our website. We were the first non-profit foundation dedicated to raising awareness about CMV and we are the only non-profit raising donations to support vaccine research. We are all volunteer! Help us save babies from CMV!
1. Every hour a child becomes permanently disabled due to CMV. More children are disabled each year from CMV than from Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida or FAS
2. Over 8,000 children each year are permanently disabled from CMV. There are 400 fatal cases each year in the US.
3. In the US, half of all pregnant moms have never had this virus, which puts their unborn baby at risk!
4. Our mission is to raise public awareness, support vaccine research and affect change in the medical community so that women will be tested for CMV
