About

We work to rescue homeless dogs and cats from mostly rural, underserved shelters and provide them with medical care, temp and permanent homes, and behavioral training.

Homeward Trails rescues an average of 1,500 homeless dogs and cats annually. These animals come from mostly rural, low-income animal shelters where often 9 out of 10 animals are euthanized and never given the opportunity to have a loving family. Those euthanized include puppies and kittens, purebreds and mixed breeds...so many are perfectly friendly, healthy and loving.....there are just too many of them abandoned and not enough space or people to care for them until their adopter comes along. They spend their last days in a cold kennel, scared, sad and lonely.

Homeward Trails brings them into our foster system where they are cared for, loved, provided with medical attention and behavioral training and then adopted to loving families.

Homeward Trails is proud to take in hundreds of "special needs" animals every year as well- those that are most often left behind in shelters to die. These animals suffer from treatable diseases or those that can be managed, and yet most people look past them. These issues include: heartworm, broken bones, internal injuries, mange, ringworm, Feline Leukemia, Parvo and more. Homeward Trails spends tens of thousands of dollars annually treating these animals and giving the opportunities they deserve!

A donation to Homeward Trails will allow us to rescue even more animals in the coming days, months and years. We work tirelessly to increase our foster volunteers, our vet partners, our boarding partners and our volunteers so that we can help more animals every year. With your financial contribution we can be ready the next time an animal needs us!
