Countable is a social place to weigh in on issues that matter. It's a platform for you to connect with others, find common ground and take action. As such, the content you post is visible to others. If you want to keep your opinions private, Countable might not be the place for you. There's a lot of required legal language here, but we've done our best to summarize our Privacy Policy in plain English where possible. Each section begins with "SUMMARY," which briefly sums up the section that follows. Countable Corp ("Countable," "we" or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information about you or associated with you ("personal information") is collected, used and disclosed by Countable Corp, Inc. and its affiliates, which own and operate Countable and Causes. This Privacy Policy applies to our websites, including,, and our mobile apps for iPhone and Android mobile devices (collectively, "our Service"). By accessing or using our Service, you signify that you have read, understood and agree to our collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Generally. We collect personal information from our users in order to provide you with a personalized, useful and efficient experience. The categories of information we collect can include:

SUMMARY: Information you provide. This is the basic information that we need to set up your account on Countable.

  • Information you provide. We may collect and store personal information you enter in our Service or provide to us in some other manner, including your name, birthdate, email address, password, and location. We may also collect any communications between you and Countable, as well as any information you provide if you take part in any interactive features of the Service. Information that is part of your profile or that you post to a campaign will be viewable to the public.

SUMMARY: Data collected through the use of Countable. Additional information that you provide and your engagement with the platform help us personalize and improve our Service and your experience.

  • Data collected through the use of the Service. After you set up your account, you may choose to provide additional information which may be shared through public profiles, such as your photograph, biographical content, organizations you support, and other information (collectively, "Profile Information"). You control how much personally identifying information you wish to provide in your public profile. We also collect information about how you use the Service and about your actions on the Service, including users or campaigns you support, positions you take, actions, interests, and interaction with others on the Service, and user content you post to the Service in the form of positions, reasons, messages, comments, likes, shares, and other content ("User Content"). Please remember that Countable may, but has no obligation to, monitor User Content posted by our members. All users and User Content is subject to our Community Guidelines.

  • Information we receive from social networking sites. When you interact with our site through various social media, such as when you login through Facebook, or share Countable content on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram or other sites, we may receive information from the social network including your profile information, profile picture, gender, user name, user ID associated with your social media account, age range, language, country, friends list, and any other information you permit the social network to share with third parties. We may use your friends data to let you know what your friends are doing on our Service, and to let your friends know what you are doing on the Service. The data we receive is dependent upon your privacy settings with the social network, and we will not post information about you on third party social media sites without your consent. You should always review, and if necessary, adjust your privacy settings on third-party websites and services before linking or connecting them to our website or Service.

SUMMARY: Address book. We want you to be able to find your friends and share your activity on Countable with them and vice versa. Countable works best when you can connect with the people you know.

  • Address book Information. With your permission, Countable may access your contact list available on your mobile device or in your email accounts in order to locate your friends and contacts on the Service and to invite your friends and contacts to connect with our Service. When we invite your friends to join the Service, we will include your name and photo to let them know that you are the person extending the invitation. After sending these invitations, we may also send reminder emails to your invitees on your behalf. We will store these contacts for purposes of alerting you when your contacts join Countable at a later time so that you may connect with them on the Service, and to suggest friends and connections to other members of Countable.

SUMMARY: Information we receive from third parties. We have many exciting plans for how to make Countable better and more relevant to you. In the future we may use third-party data to further personalize your experience, such as to tell you who your elected officials are.

  • Information we receive from third parties. From time to time, we may receive information about you from third parties, such as voter registration, directory information, identity verification, and other information from charitable or political organizations, or from campaign creators. We may also collect information about you that is publicly available.

SUMMARY: From time to time, we may send you and your contacts friendly email updates and push notifications to share what you're up to and what's trending on Countable.

We use this information to operate, maintain, and provide to you the features and functionality of the Service, as well as to communicate directly with you, such as to send you email messages and push notifications, and permit you to communicate with others on the Service or on social media or invite others to join the Service. We may combine information internally across different Service offerings (e.g., Countable and Causes) to enhance your experience with our Service. For example, we may identify a friend you may know from one service to suggest that you engage with that friend on another service, and we may let your friends on one service know about your activities on another service. For example, we may send an email to your friends on Causes to let them know that you've joined Countable, and we may include your profile picture in the email so that your friends recognize you. We may also use information about your activities on the Service to provide personalized content, including targeted campaigns and advertising. We may also send you Service-related emails or messages (e.g., account verification, donation confirmations, change or updates to features of the Service, technical and security notices). SUMMARY: Cookies. We employ commonly-used Internet technologies like cookies to help remember you and to personalize and improve your experience on Countable.

Use of cookies and other technology to collect information. We automatically collect certain types of usage information when you visit our website or use our Service. When you visit the Service, we may send one or more cookies — a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters — to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser and lets us help you log in faster and enhance your navigation through the site. A cookie may also convey information to us about how you use the Service (e.g., the pages you view, the links you click, how frequently you access the Service, and other actions you take on the Service), and allow us to track your usage of the Service over time. We may collect log file information from your browser or mobile device each time you access the Service. Log file information may include anonymous information such as your web request, Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, information about your mobile device, referring / exit pages and URLs, number of clicks and how you interact with links on the Service, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed, and other such information. We may employ clear gifs (also known as web beacons) which are used to anonymously track the online usage patterns of our Users. In addition, we may also use clear gifs in HTML-based emails sent to our users to track which emails are opened and which links are clicked by recipients. The information allows for more accurate reporting and improvement of the Service. We may also collect analytics data, or use third-party analytics tools, to help us measure traffic and usage trends for the Service and to understand more about the demographics of our users. These tools collect information sent by your browser or mobile device, including the pages you visit, your use of third party applications, and other information that assists us in analyzing and improving the Service. Although we do our best to honor the privacy preferences of our visitors, we are not able to respond to Do Not Track signals from your browser at this time.

When you access our Service by or through a mobile device, we may receive or collect and store a unique identification numbers associated with your device or our mobile application (including, for example, a UDID, Unique ID for Advertisers ("IDFA"), Google Ad ID, or Windows Advertising ID), mobile carrier, device type, model and manufacturer, mobile device operating system brand and model, phone number, and, depending on your mobile device settings, your geographical location data, including GPS coordinates (e.g. latitude and/or longitude) or similar information regarding the location of your mobile device

We use or may use the data collected through cookies, log file, device identifiers, location data and clear gifs information to: (a) remember information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the site; (b) provide custom, personalized content and information, including targeted content and advertising; (c) provide and monitor the effectiveness of our Service; (d) monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, traffic, usage, and demographic patterns on our website and our Service; (e) diagnose or fix technology problems; and (f) otherwise to plan for and enhance our service.


SUMMARY: Sharing information. We're building a social platform for civic engagement but that network only works when others can see your activity, you can see their activity, and people can find each other. Sharing is a two-way street meant to benefit all users. With this in mind, please remember that your profile information, including your name and photo, and your actions on the Service, will be available publicly to other users on the Service and some of this information may be searchable by search engines.

We may share your personal information in the instances described below. For further information on your choices regarding your information, see the "Your Choices Regarding Your Information" section below.

Remember, our Service allows you to connect and interact with others. Your profile information, including your name, photo, and other personal information, will be available publicly to other members of the Service by default when you interact with others on the Service, such as by creating or taking a position, leaving a reason, supporting or commenting on a user or Campaign, or taking actions. This information may be available to the public and may be searchable by search engines which may display certain parts of your personal information publicly. We may also share your personal information with:

  1. The public and other members of the Service. When you interact with others on the Service, your profile information and other information including the positions you take, the reasons you provide, and the campaigns you create and interact with, will be viewable by others on the Service, and may be searchable by search engines, so please do not provide personal information you would not want to be public. You may be able to control the visibility of some of your information and actions in your Settings (see "Your Choices Regarding Your Information" below);

  2. Campaigns and sponsors with whom you interact on our Service. We may share your personal information with a campaign when you support, comment on, take an action or position or otherwise interact with a campaign on the Service, so that the campaign or sponsor may communicate with you. Personal information shared with campaigns and sponsors will be subject to the privacy policies of those campaigns and sponsors, so please review those policies before agreeing to share your data. Please review our Community Guidelines and remember that Countable does not have an obligation to monitor or verify User Content or campaign content that is posted to the Service. Sharing information with others on our platform is done at your own risk;

  3. Target of campaign. When you take an action that targets a particular individual, group or cause, we may share your personal information and contact information with the target of the campaign and with the creator of the campaign. Additionally, by signing the campaign, you consent to have your name/signature, city, and state, disclosed on the Countable page for the campaign indicating that you have supported the campaign. This information will be viewable to all members of our website, as well as search engines;

  4. Campaigns who want to reach individuals like you. From time to time, a campaign will ask Countable to show the campaign to Countable users who meet certain demographic criteria, such as living in a particular geographic location or belonging to a political party, or behavioral criteria, such as a history of interacting with similar campaigns on Countable. We do not share your personal information with the campaign unless or until you interact with the campaign on Countable.

  5. Third parties at your request. For example, you may have the option to share your activities on Countable with your friends through email, text or on various social media sites.

SUMMARY: The Countable family currently includes Causes and shares data among these Services.

  1. Other brands owned or controlled by Countable Corp, including but not limited to Causes, and other companies owned by or under common ownership as Countable, which also includes our subsidiaries (i.e., any organization we own or control) or our ultimate holding company (i.e., any organization that owns or controls us) and any subsidiaries it owns. These companies will use your personal information in the same way as we can under this Policy;

  2. Third party vendors, consultants and other service providers that perform services on our behalf, in order to carry out their work for us, which may include identifying and serving targeted advertisements, content or service fulfillment, or providing analytics services;

  3. Other parties in connection with any company transaction, such as a merger, sale of all or a portion of company assets or shares, reorganization, financing, change of control or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company or third party or in the event of bankruptcy or related or similar proceedings; and

  4. Third parties as required to (i) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, subpoena/court order, legal process or other government request, (ii) enforce our Terms of Service Agreement, including the investigation of potential violations thereof, (iii) investigate and defend ourselves against any third party claims or allegations, (iv) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Countable, its users or the public as required or permitted by law and (v) detect, prevent or otherwise address criminal (including fraud or stalking), security or technical issues.

We may also share information with others in an aggregated and anonymous form that does not reasonably identify you directly as an individual.


SUMMARY: Your choice regarding your information. There are many options in your profile settings. Please explore the Settings and make sure to save your preferences.

Profile and Data Sharing Settings. You may change some of your data sharing preferences on your Settings page. For example, you may mark your profile as private so that it may not be viewable by search engines, though your information will still be viewable by others on the Service.

SUMMARY: Marketing communications. For the most part, you can control the types of emails and push notifications that you get from us. There are, however, some rare exceptions to this rule, such as updates to this Privacy Policy.

Marketing Communications. If you do not wish to receive promotional emails, you can change your email preferences on your Settings page on our websites, or you can click the "unsubscribe" button on promotional email communications. Note that you are not permitted to unsubscribe or opt-out of non-promotional messages regarding your account, such as account verification, donation confirmations, change or updates to features of the Service, or technical and security notices.

SUMMARY: Online advertising. Like many other websites and online services, we may work with ad networks and other third parties to serve you online advertisements based on your interests. This helps us provide our service for free to our users. Read on to learn more about this practice.

Online Advertising. We may permit third party online advertising networks to collect information about your use of our website over time so that they may play or display ads that may be relevant to your interests on our Service as well as on other websites or apps. Typically, the information we share is provided through cookies or similar tracking technologies. The only way to completely "opt out" of the collection of any information through cookies or other tracking technology is to actively manage the settings on your browser or mobile device. Please refer to your browser's or mobile device's technical information for instructions on how to delete and disable cookies, and other tracking/recording tools. SUMMARY: Data retention. You can deactivate your account at any time by choosing the Deactivate option in your Settings.

Data Retention: We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You may deactivate your account in your profile settings. Please contact us at [email protected] if you wish to delete your Countable account permanently from our systems. Please contact us at [email protected] if you wish to delete your Causes account. Please be aware that we will not be able to delete any content you have shared with others or with social media sites.

Deleting or Anonymizing Your Content: If you are a Causes user, you may request that the User Content that you posted to the Service be deleted or anonymized such that your personal information will not be identifiable publicly on our Service by emailing [email protected]. While we will use all commercially reasonable efforts to delete or anonymize your User Content upon request, please be aware that due to the social nature of our Service, you may not be able to completely remove all of your personally identifiable User Content if, for example, that content has been stored, republished, or reposted by another user or a third party. We may also maintain your information in identifiable form for our internal use, even if your personal data is no longer visible to the public on our Service.

Notice to California Users. The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) goes into effect on January 1, 2020. The Act grants “consumers” (any California resident regardless of whether there is a customer or any other relationship with Countable) five new rights respecting their personal information. “Consumer” means a natural person who is a California resident, as defined in Section 17014 of Title 18 of the California Code of Regulations, as that section read on September 1, 2017, however identified, including by any unique identifier.

The first is your right to request disclosure of Causes data collection and sales practices in connection with yourself, including the categories of personal information Causes has collected, the source of the information, your use of the information, and, if the information was disclosed or sold to third parties, the categories of personal information disclosed or sold to third parties and the categories of third parties to whom such information was disclosed or sold.

The second is your right to request a copy of the specific personal information collected about you, by Causes, during the 12 months before your request.

The third is your right to have such information deleted, to which Countable must respond within 45 days.

The fourth is your right to request that your personal information will not be sold to third parties, if applicable (as outlined in this privacy policy).

And the fifth is your right not to be discriminated against because you exercised any of these rights. Countable is compliant with CCPA and all relevant requests can be made via toll-free phone number to (800) 390-0784, or via email to [email protected].


SUMMARY: Security: We take security seriously at Countable. Please do your fair share by protecting your account with a strong password. If you notice any suspicious activity in your account, please make sure to email us immediately.

Countable cares about the security of your information and uses commercially reasonable physical, administrative, and technological safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of all information we collect and that we share with our service providers. However, no security system is impenetrable and we cannot guarantee the security of our systems 100%. In the event that any information under our control is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and where appropriate, notify those individuals whose information may have been compromised and take other steps, in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Your information collected through the Service may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which Countable or its subsidiaries, affiliates or service providers maintain facilities. If you are located in the European Union or other regions with laws governing data collection and use that may differ from U.S. law, please note that we may transfer information, including personal information, to a country and jurisdiction that does not have the same data protection laws as your jurisdiction, and you consent to the transfer of information to the U.S. or any other country in which Company or its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates or service providers maintain facilities and the use and disclosure of information about you as described in this Privacy Policy.


The Service and its content are not directed at children under the age of 13. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. SUMMARY: Links to third party websites. You may come across links and other references to sites that are not part of our service. Please remember that we don't have any control over these third parties, and they are not governed by this Privacy Policy.

The Services may contain links to and from third party websites of our business partners, advertisers, social media sites, and campaign sponsors and our users may post links to third party websites. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for their policies. Please check the individual policies before you submit any information to those websites.

We use Google Maps API to gather information about your location. Google uses various technologies to determine your location, including IP address, GPs and other sensors that may, for example, provide Google with information on nearby devices, wi-fi access points and cell towers (see Google Maps privacy policy to learn more).


We reserve the right to modify this Policy from time to time. If we make any changes to this Policy, we will change the "Last Revision" date below and will post the updated Policy on this page. If you object to any changes, you may close your account. Continuing to use our Services after we publish changes to this Privacy Policy means that you are consenting to the changes.
